[tip] How to I prevent multiple disclaimers being added to a message?

mxClaim makes no attempt to distinguish between original messages and replies and this can often lead to disclaimers being added to messages that already contain a disclaimer in a previous message. For example:

This is a reply.

-- Original Message -- > This is the original message > > This is a disclaimer > This is a disclaimer

The "Do not apply disclaimers if the message body contains" option for a rule allows you to prevent this from happening either by entering a small portion of the disclaimer text or by adding a unique identifier (something that is unlikely to appear in a message body) to your disclaimers. To use a unique identifier follow the steps below:

  1. Choose the unique identifier for your disclaimers, for example: [disclaimer_v1.0_29072006]
  2. Using the mxClaim configuration tool edit your plain text and HTML disclaimers to contain the unique identifier
  3. Edit your disclaimer rule by entering the unique identifer in the "Do not apply disclaimers if the message body contains" text box and save your changes
